China-ASEAN trade fair opens in Yangon


The China-ASEAN (Myanmar) trade fair opened at the Tatmadaw Convention Hall in Yangon on Thursday, a fresh move to promote trade relations between China and Myanmar.

With 75 standard booths, items on display at the three-day fair include machinery, motorbikes, home decorations, cosmetics, clothing, footwear, lighting, office stationary, kitchen utensils, furniture and foodstuff.

The exhibitors are mainly from Shantou, Chongqing, Zhejiang in China.

According to Chinese official statistics, China-Myanmar bilateral trade totalled $6.5 billion in 2011, up 46.3 percent year on year. China's investment in Myanmar also reached $20.26 billion by the end of last year.

The bilateral trade amounted to $5 billion in the first nine months this year, up 4.5 percent from a year earlier.-The Philippine Star (November 08, 2012 9:00PM)
