Strong Brunei-China Ties Lauded


"The sound development in relations between China and Brunei lifts our spirits. I am deeply convinced that China and Brunei, both with a long history, will enjoy a better relationship in the future."

The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, Zheng Xianglin, expressed his hope of the continuity in strong ties between two common partners, particularly in Asean, during a reception marking the 63rd Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China at The Empire Hotel & Country Club last evening.

The guest of honour at the event was the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah.

The ambassador said that with China being Asean's largest trading partner, the nation will also continue its pursuit in advocating common prosperity and development by actively promoting exchanges, increasing mutual understanding and trust, deepening pragmatic cooperation among all other countries in the world, whilst at the same time pursuing its own development.

"The Chinese government will adopt more concrete measures to push forward the shifting of development model and upgrading of industries, attach more importance to resource and energy saving and environmental protection, increase its inputs in social welfare and boost people's livelihood," the ambassador added.

The highlight of the event was the cutting of the anniversary cake by the ambassador and guest of honour and their respective spouses.

The reception was attended by High Commissioners and Ambassadors of countries in Brunei and senior government officials.-Brudirect (September 25, 2012 7:56PM)
