PH formally requesting 12 brand new Patrol ships from Japan


The plan of Japan to provide patrol ships to our Coast Guard has already been approved by NEDA.

According to DOTC Secretary Mar Roxas, the DFA is formally requesting the 12 brand new patrol vessels from Japan.

“We will formally inform the Japanese authorities as soon as possible,” said DFA spokesperson Raul Hernandez.

Japan has yet to decide of what vessels will be built and transferred to the Philippine government on official development assistance or grants.

“The 12 patrol boats will be fitted with modern equipment when they are transferred to the Philippine Coast Guard,” said Minister Shinsuke Shimizu, head of the Japanese Embassy’s chancery.-AFP Modernization (September 02, 2012)
